ContextBridge Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

ContextBridge helps you save and reuse AI prompt context across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. This policy explains what the extension handles and how that information is used.

Information the extension handles

When you choose to save context, ContextBridge can collect the visible prompt and reply text from supported AI chat pages. It also stores extension settings, an anonymous installation ID, the source site, page title, and capture time.

How information is used

Saved context is used only to let you search, copy, export, and reuse your own AI prompts and replies. ContextBridge does not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Storage and transfer

If you configure an API endpoint, saved context is sent to that ContextBridge backend and stored in MongoDB under your anonymous installation ID. If no endpoint is configured, the extension uses local browser storage as a fallback.

Redaction

Before upload, ContextBridge redacts common emails, phone numbers, URLs, and long numeric identifiers. You should still avoid saving sensitive personal, financial, medical, legal, or confidential business information unless you are comfortable storing it in your configured backend.

Permissions

ContextBridge requests access only to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude pages so it can detect and save visible AI chat context after you interact with the extension. The storage permission is used for settings, the anonymous installation ID, and local fallback records.

Remote code

The Chrome extension does not load or execute remotely hosted JavaScript.

Data deletion

Records stored in the backend are associated with your anonymous installation ID. You can delete records through the API, and you can clear local fallback records from your browser extension storage.
